Transgender Chattanooga--"TransChatt" for short--was founded on October 7, 2017 by Krissy Ramsey, a U.S. Army veteran and lifelong resident of the area who holds M.Ed. (Community Counseling) and B.S. (Psychology) degrees from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Since 2013 she has served the community as an interfaith minister and pastor of Crossvine Church, prior to which she worked for 10 years as a clinical counselor.

Krissy was born as a genetic male in 1961, becoming aware of her female identity during childhood. Unable to pursue her gender transition earlier, however, due to lack of support and resources--and then having survived a period of personal tragedy in recent years--Krissy, at the age of 56, was finally able to complete her transition. Shortly thereafter, she founded TransChatt with the mission of  helping the heterosexual and cisgender people of Chattanooga become more confident and competent allies to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people; and working with corporate executives on these issues.

In addition to her work as a mental health professional and in the ministry, Krissy also has significant experience in the fields of business and education. Yet perhaps the most significant attribute that Krissy brings to the table as a consultant, coach and trainer is her ability to speak to these issues from the perspective of her own personal experience as a transgender person.

This unique combination of education, professional experience, and personal attributes have combined to uniquely position Krissy for her newest role in assisting Chattanooga-area businesses to implement effective LGBTQ diversity policies which inspire a spirit of inclusivity in the workplace, which, by extension, leads to enhanced productivity and greatly expanded opportunities for organizational success at all levels.
